HEALING COMES FROM TOTAL SURRENDER
You cannot heal yourself by a strong will to survive or by working a "program". You are healed by surrendering everything in your life - past, present and future - to the will of God and then receiving healing from Him. This can be a fearful thing if you have always managed to avoid dealing directly with God, but there has to come a time when you finally want to be free. If a counselor, program, or group has helped you come to this point, then they have served you well. But they cannot heal you! The only way to be truly set free is to strip down your old nature of everything it derives power from, tear down the strongholds you have erected and them allow God to spiritually realign your life.
We are our strongest when we realize we need HIS help for everthing, from our breathing to our believing!

yep, i agree,we need to realize we need God first to help us and to heal us, i know its hard for me to surrender and let go of some things that i let control me but in all actuality Im in control and letting go of that control is hard.But , i now realize that letting go and giving it to God is far better and when i let go healing begins!! . did that make sence????!!
I agree Deb. As a former addict and addictions counselor, I have a view of AA/NA etc. that differs from what you will receive in 99% of these meetings. If a person studies the original 12 Steps and also does the research on Bill Wilson, who founded AA, you will discover that Wilson was a devout Christian man, and he designed the 12 Steps to lead others to Christ, not for them to create a god of their own choosing. It really ticks me off to see what they have done to his original program. He designed AA and the 12 Steps to show folks that they were incapable of saving themselves and in return introducing them to a Savior in Christ Jesus. Sadly, today most hard core members of AA will chastise and even ostracise someone who professes Christ as their "higher power".
(I think I will have to write more of this later on my blog so as to not over-run yours!)

All healing comes from God, ultimately. Great point you made there.
But I am also convinced that God uses many methods and ways to bring healing to us.
And what if "healing" doesn't come?
He is still God.
